Launching the ‘Summer of Hope’, Chasing the Stigma are inviting people to use their summer wind down period to think of ways they could commit to fund raising to support the charity.
Hub of Hope Impact
Chasing the Stigma invested in further development to re-launch the ‘Hub of Hope’ earlier this year, which brings together NHS, voluntary sector, and local services in the UK’s largest mental health support database, currently listing over 14,500 services.
The app supported over 300,000 people to make over 1 million searches for local mental health support just last year, growing 75% year on year, it could reach over half a million users by next year.
At least 75 NHS trusts and 50 government departments already rely on the Hub of Hope to direct people to critical mental health support, yet the charity has not received central government funding since 2022.
If just 1% of Hub of Hope users avoid an A&E visit, the NHS could save £4.45 million annually, but this potential saving can only be realised if the Hub of Hope can continue to be funded.
We have worked out it costs us close to £1 per person to run Hub of Hope for free, so to run the service with increasing demand next year, we need to raise more money.
The Challenge
Every changing government policy that takes us from a cost of living crisis to energy price hikes to welfare and disability benefit reform have a huge impact on mental health.
When the public face increasing pressure and are plunged into crisis, it is the third sector they reach out to for support. That’s why charities never really need to raise awareness with service users, but it is those who can offer financial support we need to reach. And so we are appealing to anyone who can help.

What can you do to help?
We are looking for corporate sponsors and individual fundraisers who can help us get a head start on raising funds to keep the hub of hope free, and cope with the increasing demand.
We are inviting people who are passionate advocates for mental health to join us in creating a ‘Summer of Hope’ by fund raising any way you can for Chasing the Stigma. This could be:
Offering a one off donation - just £5 could help support 5 people to access the Hub of Hope.
Joining our ‘Club of Hope’ committing to giving a regular monthly donation
Joining our #ChallengetheStigma team by signing up for one of our races or events
Completing a £1000 workplace challenge - join with colleagues to commit to this joint target. It means for 10 people you only need to raise £100 each
Facebook Fundraisers - why not donate your birthday by setting up a facebook fundraiser
We have set a target of £25,000 raised across the summer, finishing at the end of September. Can you help?
